He and Hikaru are both in their first year at Ouran and are classmates of Haruhi Fujioka. They tend to imply an incestuous relationship for their "forbidden love" fans. The twins are the youngest members in the club. Both twins address Tamaki as "my/our lord" instead of king, due to the fact they first thought of Tamaki as "the lord of idiots." In the anime, it seems Kaoru wears orange apparel when outside school grounds. As Haruhi points out, Kaoru is not as ridiculously hot headed (even though they look the same) as Hikaru. Kaoru is more thoughtful and considerate of the feelings of others. Otherwise, Kaoru is similar in many ways, and likes the same things as Hikaru, such as maple syrup, Italian and spicy foods. Kaoru is also the twin that understands that it's not healthy for the twins to be so co-dependent and that they will eventually be apart - if they were to say fall in love and become part of a new family. If both the twins desire something, and there is only one of that item, Kaoru usually steps back and allows his brother to go forward, refusing to compete with his brother either directly, or going behind his brother's back.
